Keynote: Ed Stetzer
1 Peter 4:10
Notes from the first Keynote speaker:  How do we provoke one another towards love, good deeds, missions, and service?

I. Today’s church has too many passive spectators, and not enough active participants!
A.  When we treat churches like theaters (with performers up front), we create passive spectator Christians.
B.   Christians don’t just know, they do!

1. ALL have gifts
a.  Everyone is gifted for service.  But not everyone is using their gifts!
b.  Most people, in most churches, are NOT involved in any ministry in the church.
c.  80% of the work is done by 20% of the people.
d.   Don’t make it acceptable to not serve and still claim to be a follower of Jesus Christ!
e.   1 Corinthians 12: 4 – 10
f.   The end result should not be a cooler church but a more Christlike congregation!
g.  Don’t be consumers!  In many churches, the lay people lay around and let the staff do all the work.
h.  The staff should be equipping the lay people to do the work.

2. God intends all to use those gifts!
a. People who are rowing the boat are less interested in rocking it!

3. For which He empowers us – 1 Peter 4:10
a.  Provoke one another to do good deeds.
b.  Unleash your Susan Boyles!

4. To bring God glory
a. Technology is the tool, not the goal.  Equipping the people to service is the Goal!
